A lovely off- white blouse with light blue pinstripes. This antique shirtwaist style blouse is great for the collector. Easily style this modern - like shown on the model to act more as a cropped shirt - OR button the collar fully and tuck it in for an Edwardian look! The piece buttons in the front with a series of buttons - there is a set of three at the collar to give you that classic higher collar look of the period. Then there is a cluster of buttons towards the top of the blouse for the normal shirt closure. There is an additional button right at the hem of the piece. I think at one point there was also a draw string at the hem to give that perfect Edwardian bloused look, but its no longer fully present or functional (you can see the ends of a string in one of the close up photos). It looks like there may have once been a tag, but all that is left is a few threads. Fabric feels like cotton and has a lovely little pattern to it (look at up close images). It would likely best fits a modern size Medium, possibly a Large as the look is meant to be a bloused, so keep that in mind. Please see measurements! Model is modern size 4/6 and dress form is a modern medium for reference

Measurements (flat measurements is pictured)
Bust: about 42 inches Maximum, but again you want it bloused
Hem: about 39 inches, though you could add a drawstring in again to cinch this a bit more if you like.
Length: about 18 inches in front- it is shorter in the back than it is in the front… this is intentional as its meant to give the shirtwaist blouse its “bloused” look, typical of the period.
Sleeve Length: 20.5 inches
Good to Fair Antique condition- The piece presents beautifully especially given its age, but it does have some overall wear. Most notably is some overall discoloration. I would think this piece was likely intended to be bright white and blue originally ( I say this because the muslin cotton on the underside of the collar and the button loops are bright white), but now its gives off an overall off-white effect as there is an overall greying to the fabric with some yellowing present as well. I have very carefully put this piece through cleaning and while I was able to reduce the discoloration significantly, it is still present throughout. There are also spots/marks to the piece throughout that did not come out either. The worst of this to my eye is near the hem where there are a series of rust marks. There is a bit of wear/small bit of fraying to the fabric in this area as well. Some wear to the button loops and buttons, but for now everything seems to function as intended. Some loose threads that do not seem to impact wear. Wear to some seams, the “worst” is one at the collar (see last photo). This piece is OLD and it is VERY delicate. If you do decided to wear it, use care. With anything of this age though, I am biased and always encourage one to wear it sparingly, if at all. If you are storing this or any piece of this age for long term I strongly recommend getting proper archival storage boxes (there are a number of websites and museums that sell these).
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise.
