1920s 1930s Antique Vintage Crushed Yellow Velvet Loungewear Duster or Robe - Xs to Sm

$179.00

Absolutely stunning crushed velvet duster. This gorgeous piece was intended for loungewear, but I feel like it could be worn over just about anything for Fall! The fabric is comprised of mostly a lovely yellow velvet, but the collar and edges are a crepe. The sleeves have snap closures at the wrists. The body of the piece is lined, but the sleeves are not. There are no labels, but given the style and construction of the piece, as well as from the collection it came from, it likely dates to the 1920s or 1930s. The piece has no closures in front and is meant to just be worn open. That said, it would likely best fit a modern Extra Small to Small because of how it fits in the arms and across the shoulders; and you do still want this to be loose and flowing. Please see measurements. For reference model is modern size 4/6 and it felt a tad tight across the shoulders.

Measurements (see photos):

Bust : Relatively open given no closures

Shoulders: 14 inches

Waist: Relatively open given no closures

Hips: Relatively open given no closures

Total Length: 36 inches (from back of collar, down)

Sleeve Length: 22 inches

Wrists: 3.5 inches across laying flat

Good Vintage Condition - For its age especially, this piece is in good condition and seems wearable. Though of course when something is this old I always advise to wear AND store it with great care! I recommend storing with archival grade tissue and boxes! Overall there is some wear to the piece. To my eye - in person - there is some greying throughout the piece that is really hard to capture with camera given the way the light hits the velvet, but I tried my best. I think in the photos of holding the sleeve up to the chest you can see what I mean best by the greying. There are also numerous small marks and spots to the piece. There are unfortunately two dark rust spots that did not come out with cleaning. There are some other marks, including an area of a bit hard velvet as well as some marks on the yellow crepe edges and the cream internal lining. The lining has some underarm marks as well, though to my eye they do not seem visible from the outside! There are also a few worn spots/small holes to the crepe. Some past mends to some of the velvet seams are noted - at least I think thats what they are as there is some thread edges that don’t match the rest of the piece I can see peeking out a tad (pictured). Some worn spots to the velvet and some wear/ slight pulling to a few of the seams. The velvet in the seam allotments of the sleeves note some wear (pictured in the inside out image of sleeve). When I turned the sleeve inside out I found a few very teeny tiny pinholes to the velvet that were really hard to see from the exterior. The velvet itself is crushed and while I think its intentional, I am just not sure it is meant to be that way because some places are more crushed than others so I want to mention it here! Crepe likes to wrinkle and at the front edges seems ever so slightly longer. Also the crepe interior edges for the edges of the sleeves likes to peak out, so you just need to tuck it back in. Please note that this piece is about 100 years old, so it is very delicate.

All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise.
