1920s Vintage Antique Black Dress or Light Weight Duster Jacket - Md to Lg
You really can’t beat an 1920s (possibly EARLY 1930s) dress jacket! I truly love these kinds of pieces because they can be so versatile! You can dress the piece up and wear it as intended over another dress for a very vintage look OR you could dress the item down and modern and wear it with a cute top and a pair of jeans. The garment is made of what feels like rayon and it buttons at the front with what feels like celluloid buttons. There are decorative buttons at the sleeves as well. May best fit a modern size Medium, maybe a Large though remember that the 20s style garments are meant to be loose fitting. Model is modern day size 4/6 and dress form is modern Medium for reference.
Measurements (see images too for flatlays)
Bust: about 42 inches max (though at the max you would not have the loose flowing look and this is somewhat relative as there is no closure here)
Waist (at the top button): 38 inches max (though again at the max you would not have the loose look)
Hips: about 44 inches max (though this is somewhat relative as there is no closure here)
Length: 42 inches from back of collar, down
Sleep Length: 22 inches from top of shoulder, down (when it’s cuffed)
Good Vintage Condition - Some overall wear to the piece. Considering its age this piece is in pretty good condition and seems wearable so long as you are careful as it is old and delicate. There are a few areas of marks upon that I could not get out. There are also some small spots where there are tiny holes and pinholes/ pulls. Minor wear to buttons. If you are storing this or any piece of this age for long term I strongly recommend getting proper archival storage boxes (there are a number of websites and museums that sell these).
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment. If you need more information about my measurements and vintage sizing please refer to my FAQs section under my Shop Policies page and ask me, I am here to help!!
