1940s 1950s Vintage Dorothy Lord Light Brown and Yellow Wool Tweed Dress - Sm
This cute late 40s or early 50s nubby wool dress is so perfect for fall and winter weather - cozy and with 3/4 length sleeves! It has the most gorgeous light brown fiber - like a tweed woven with specks of darker brown, yellow, cream, and even some grey in it. The bodice detailing with the added buttons adds such an elegant touch. I particularly love the pleat detailing in the back! The dress is lined with what feels like a cotton backing to the wool, though I would still recommend wearing a slip as the seams themselves are not lined. The dress zips up the back with a metal talon zipper. It would likely best fit a modern size small, but please see measurements. Model is modern size 4/6 for reference.

Measurements:
Bust: 36 inches
Waist: 26 inches
Hips: 37 inches
Length: 41 inches from back of neck, down
Sleeve Length: 19 inches from shoulder seam, down
Good vintage condition - Overall expected wear to the fabric, with some pilling noted in places, but especially at the underarms. Some small areas where the woolen material is a bit bare (see last photo). Minor staining to the inner lining and tag. There are very faint darker marks in places on dress exterior that I think may be discoloration but its really hard to tell, its possibly that its just the way the wool was dyed too. Marks to the buttons. Slight wear to inner seam allotments, as expected.
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment. If you need more information about my measurements and vintage sizing please refer to my FAQs section under my Shop Policies page and ask me, I am here to help!!
