1940s 1950s Vintage Light Brown & Black Speckled Chenille French Knit Dress with Belt - Sm
A coveted simple and chic cold weather staple! The silhouette is a classic late 40s or early 50s knit with the matching belt! The color overall presents like a light brown or taupe, but it has specks of black throughout which gives a slightly darker look. And the asymmetry of the belt buckle - a common thing seen in the brand - is so cool! The dress is a pull over, so keep this in mind for sizing. Though it is a knit and does have some give. Fabric is 100% Zephyr wool. Label for French Knitwear Co. Would likely best fit size small. Model is modern size 4/6 for reference. Belt is original and is included.

Dress Measurements NOT stretched:
Bust: about 32 inches though these are dolman style sleeves. There is enough give to the knit that it accommodated model who is a 34 B for reference.
Waist: 27 inches (for belt reference, model has a 27 inch waist)
Hips: 32 inches (again there is some give - model has 37 inch hips).
Length: 46 inches
Sleeve Length: about 17 inches - there is not a seam in the shoulder to measure from
Belt length : about 33 inches (there are no belt holes, its just a pull through)
Good vintage Condition: Some overall wear to the piece. There are a few small snags to knit, but its overall nubby texture makes this hardly noticeable. Tag unstitched a teeny tiny bit at the top. Some wear to belt. There is some evidence of past mends, but honestly had I not looked at the inside of the dress I never would have noticed MOST of these. The last photo provided is what most of the mends look like from the interior of the dress. There are a couple mends found that was a teeny bit more obvious from the outside - it kinda just looks like a slightly darker spot from a distance.
