1940s 1950s Vintage Wine Red Ribbed Wool Knit Skirt - Sm to Md

$79.00

A lovely vintage late 40s or early 50s knit skirt for the collector. The lovely wine red color is so classic for this time of year. I particularly love the ribbed look as it hugs all the right places. Pair this with your favorite knit sweater for a cozy winter look. It is a pull on and feels like wool. There is no label. Would likely best fit a modern Small to Medium, given the stretching capabilities of the knit. For reference model is modern women’s size 4/6. Please see measurement - though remember there is a bit of give to the fabric.

Measurements of Skirt :

  • Waist: 24 inches not stretched to about 34 inches max stretched (has elastic in waist)

  • Hips : about 34 inches not stretched to about 38ish inches max stretched but still trying to keep ribbing intact given the give of fabric

  • Length: 31 inches

Good vintage condition - Some overall wear to the skirt with some pilling and fuzzing throughout, though the nubby nature of the knit hides this well. The fuzzing seems most noticeable on the waistline and the skirt hem. There is some discoloration and marks to the piece. This was extremely difficult to capture with the camera, but I tried my best. Just please understand these areas are present. The most obvious to me was at the waistband, but there are a few areas found elsewhere. A loose thread suggests a very small past repair, but hard to say for certain. It was only visible to me from the inside of the skirt. More repairs may be present, but I could not find them. Elastic band inside has been replaced so should function for a long time, you can see the small hole inside (intentional) used to take out and put in the elastic.

All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment. If you need more information about my measurements and vintage sizing please refer to my FAQs section under my Shop Policies page and ask me, I am here to help!!
