A STUNNING vintage 1940s (possibly VERY early 50s) knit set for the collector. The dark navy blue knit color pairs so well with the gold-tone colored detailing at the color and sleeves (this gold-tone trim might perhaps be a later addition by former owner). The skirt has a lovely very subtle detailing to it, showing what looks to me like a reverse stockinette stitch to create the “V” detail (I am new to knitting, but I am pretty sure thats what the stitch is called)! The sweater is short sleeved and is a pull over that zips partially up the back near the nape of the neck with a metal Talon zipper. Skirt is a pull on with elastic waist. The label is for Rosanna, but there is no size tag. Tag says 100% wool. Would likely best fit a modern Extra Small to Small depending on how you like your fit and given the stretching capabilities of the knit. For reference model is modern women’s size 4/6 and it fit but felt a bit snug at the neck. Please see measurement.

Measurements of Top NOT Stretched :
Bust: 32 inches - does have some give to fabric because its a knit; model is a 34B for reference
Hem: 23 inches does have some give to fabric because its a knit (models natural waist is 26 inches)
Length: 21 inches from back of collar, down
Sleeve Length: about 10 inches (from top of shoulder to edge of sleeve)
Measurements of Skirt :
Waist: 23 inches to max 34 inches when elastic is pulled fully taught
Hips : 36 inches - does have some give to fabric because its a knit
Length: 27.5 inches
Good vintage condition - Some overall wear to this set. There is some over pilling to the woolen knit with some areas that have it a bit more than others - but it also does seem to have a texture overall anyways so to my eye at least, it wasn’t too terribly obvious or obstructive. There seems to be an ever so slight overall discoloration to the wool, like that of something that has simply been washed a few times. Elastic was newly added, so should last for awhile! There is some wear to zipper paint and it does take a bit of a tug to get started sometimes, but it seemed to function as intended. Belt loops, but original belt is missing. There is some wear and perhaps very slight minor stitch issues to the very edge of the waist band, but its so difficult to tell. There is however a lot of pilling/fuzzing going on at the edge of the waist band (which fortunately is covered when the set is worn!). There is some wear to the detailing at the collar and sleeves. The gold-tone thread has some wear, there are a few loose threads that do not seem to impact wear, some wear to the pearlescent of the beads, and sometimes the rhinestone beads like to flip (you just have to flip them back). To my eye, only one rhinestone bead seemed to be missing - it doesn’t seem to take the beading all the way to the edges/seams intentionally and of course I could have missed some beads in my look over - but overall I would take this to mean it looks relatively complete! Minor wear to inner seam allotments.
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment.
