The way this dress was constructed is far from simple, with its asymmetrical checkered detailing at the bodice and the gathering at the skirt, even the sleeve edges have a little extra detailing. This look is very classic 1940s- and oh how wonderful it would be for an evening out this Fall! The dress features lovely ¾ length sleeves as well as internal shoulder pads that look to be easily removed if you desire. The piece zips up the side with a metal talon zipper and snaps closed in the front with numerous snaps. Fabric feels like rayon but has no content tag to be certain. There is no label, probably homemade. It would likely best fit a modern Medium, as I do believe its meant to be a slightly bloused look, but please see measurements. For reference dress form is a modern Medium and model is modern size 4/6.

Measurements:
Bust : 38 inches, up to about 40 inches accounting for the darting
Waist: 30 inches. 31 inches p[ulled taught
Hips: 40 inches
Total Length: 46.5 inches (from back of collar, down)
Sleeve Length: 18 inches
Good to Fair Vintage Condition - Presents beautifully and should still be very wearable, but there is some overall wear to the dress. There are a few small pulls to the piece and well as tiny wear spots. The most obvious to my eye was at the back of the collar, where it was worn enough that some prior mending has occurred - that said I don’t think its all too obvious when its worn (especially if you have long hair) and I don’t think its impacting wearability either. There is some additional wear to the fabric at the underarms where you see some white specks, but this is from the fabric wear - I have noticed this just happening to rayon of this age generally. There are a few marks to the piece as well as some color run on the plaid part of the bodice. There is wear to the shoulder pads as well as the inner seam allotments, but again I do not think this should impact wear. Belt loop, but no belt. Some color fade to the piece, especially at the shoulders. Some re-hemming it looks like as the thread doesn’t exactly match. Priced accordingly for flaws.
*Please note, model did not realize there were more snaps to closure at bodice, but what it looks like on the dress form is correct!!!
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only.
