1950s 1960s Vintage Blue lavender and Chartreuse Swimsuit or Play Suit with Knife Pleats - Sm

$169.00

A lovely vintage swim suit (or easily used as a playsuit too) with a gorgeous knife-pleated skirt! This is probably one of my favorite swim / play suits that has ever passed through the shop! The print is especially lovely, and the colors are chartreuse, various shades of blue, and lavender. Very flirty and fresh for summer! Zips up the back with a metal zipper. There is some boning in the front of the bodice only. The straps are somewhat adjustable depending on the button holes you use. Fabric feels like some sort of nylon possibly. The interior of the bodice feels like cotton though. Would likely be best for a modern Small. Model is modern size 4/6 for reference and its a TINY snug in the chest, but honestly if one was going swimming in it that may not be a bad thing.

Measurements form flat lay:

  • Bust: 32 inches but it does have elastic smocking at the sides so it can be stretched probably another 2 inches in total! Model is 34B for reference. Again it felt a TINY bit snug here on her.

  • Waist: 26 inches

  • Hips: about 36 inches for attached bottoms (the skirt is more as it has pleats)

  • Length with straps: about 31 inches from strap, down (but the straps are somewhat adjustable depending on which hole you place the button)

Good Vintage Condition - There is some overall wear to the item. There are a few small spots to the piece as well as some areas of discoloration on the interior (cotton fabric) as well - I tried to photo this as best I could, but the camera autocorrects the discoloration for the most part. Some minor wear to the straps as well. A few loose threads and minor seam pulls. It looks like there was a brand and a union tag at some point, but it’s been cut out. Some stitching repairs noted to the piece, mostly on the edges of the interior attached bottom. A few small snags and small pinholes found - one is on the strap.

All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment. If you need more information about my measurements and vintage sizing please refer to my FAQs section under my Shop Policies page and ask me, I am here to help!!
