1950s 1960s Vintage Turquoise Blue & Lavender Floral Cocktail Dress with Short Trail or Tail - Md

$89.00

Absolute bombshell dress from the late 50s or early 60s. The vivid colors of light blues off set by the softer lavender purple flowers just really make this dress stand out. The overall silhouette is just stunning and classic, featuring a lovely cowl-like neck and a small train (or tail) in back that would be so much fun when you dance! Partially zips up the back with a metal zipper, so it is still a pull over piece. Feels like silk or silken rayon and is very light weight. There are no tags to indicate maker. Would likely best fit a Medium, but remember it’s a pull over piece still. Dress form is modern size medium for reference.

Measurements :

  • Bust: 36.5 inches from flat lay, but 38 inches when accounting for darting

  • Waist: 29.5 inches

  • Hips: 37.75 inches

  • Length: about 46 inches from top of shoulder, down - train is a bit longer

Good to Fair vintage condition - Presents beautify, especially from afar but there is some overall discoloration to the piece which I would designate as the “fair”. To my eye it seems like the purple flowers just are not as vibrant as they possibly once were, though it could be the original intent of the color. There also seems to be an overall ever so slight yellowing to the piece. There is more noticeable discoloration also present at the shoulders and the underarms. Wear to inner seam allotments as expected. Should not impact wear. The front cowl (and just underneath but not seen when worn as cowl hides it) has a few clusters of small pin holes and rust marks- the last 5 images demonstrates this from various angles). Unfortunately someone had stored it with a safety pin brooch in the past. I tried to get them out but it did not work. I do think that depending on how the cowl is folded, its not obvious when worn. I do think it is still very wearable!! There are a few loose threads that do not seem to impact wear. Priced for flaws.

All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment.
