A 1950s Catalina cotton swim suit! This adorable piece is made of a black cotton with an orange and red geometric pattern. There is some exquisite gathering and detailing as well as a bit of boning for added structure in the front of the bodice. Metal Talon zipper up the back and adjustable buttonholes for the straps. The swim suit has partially attached bloomers underneath the skirt. Label is for Catalina. Would likely best fit a modern Medium to Large. Please ask if you have any questions! Model is modern size 4/6 for reference and it seemed large on her. Photos are provided to demonstrate that while flat lay measurements would suggest it would fit her (bust 34 inches) this is NOT the case as there is a lot of elastic, smocking, and darting to say otherwise!! Dress form is a modern Medium and it seemed to fit ok with a bit of wiggle room!

Measurements from flat lay images and stretched READ CAREFULLY:
Bust: 34 inches when not stretched and not accounting for cup size from the flat lay, BUT stretched it's up to 40 inches (there is elastic/smocking at sides as well as elastic around the top at the back. Model is a 34B and it felt large in the chest. Dress form is 37.5 inches and you can see in one of the image with the dress form there is still some give at the top in the back with the elastic!
Waist: 29 inches at rest from flat lay, but with the elastic it can go up to about 34 inches
Hips: shorts underneath about 42 inches, skirt is about 43 inches
Length with straps: 31 inches
Good to Fair Vintage Condition - The piece presents beautifully and is certainly still wearable but it does have some overall wear. The biggest issue is that the elastic at the sides seems to be partially dry rot and should be replaced soon ... though with the smocking there, it does still have a decent amount of flexibility. The elastic at the legs and the metal zipper appear to be in great shape for now!! There is some overall color fade and wear to the piece as well, a few spots/marks that did not come out with cleaning as well as some minor pin holes where it looks like it was taken in (and then out again) at some point. The button holes may need some reinforcement eventually as you can see from the photo they do have some wear. Some marks on tag. Priced accordingly for condition and work needed to restore the piece. At the minimum it would make a great costume or study item!
