1950s Vintage Dark Emerald Green Sweater and Skirt Knit Set WOUNDED - Md to Lg
A lovely vintage 1950s knit set for the collector. The dark emerald green color is so lovely with the pearl buttons. The sweater buttons up the front and features dolman style sleeves. Skirt is a pull on. There was no label or size tag. Feels like wool. Would likely best fit a modern Medium, possibly a Large given the stretching capabilities of the knit and depending on how you like your sweaters to fit. For reference model is modern women’s size 4/6 and top was large in the bust. Dress form is a modern medium and sweater fit much better across the chest. Please see measurement - though remember there is a bit of give to the fabric.

Measurements of Top NOT Stretched :
Bust: 41 inches (these are dolmans sleeves) Model is a 34 B
Hem: 29 inches (there is give here too)
Length: 18 inches from back of collar, down
Sleeve Length: about 17 inches (no shoulder seam to measure from)
Measurements of Skirt :
Waist: 22 inches not stretched to about 34 inches max - there is no elastic band here, BUT the ribbing creates a stretchy effect.
Hips : about 38 inches to about 42 inches given the give of fabric
Length: 26 inches
Good to Fair vintage condition - Present beautifully but there is some wear and discoloration to the piece. The discoloration and spotting is found throughout both pieces which when looked at overall and from afar, I personally don’t think its too terrible, but when examined closely it is present. While there is some lighter spots noted on the sweater and skirt, most of the discoloration to my eyes is darker spots found throughout both pieces, but to my eye the worst of this is noted on the back of the sweater. None of this came out with repeated cleaning. The discoloration was particularly difficult to capture with camera (I had to take photos at weird angels and in weird lighting to be able to demonstrate what I mean), but it is present and why I am leaning it more towards “fair”. There is also some overall wear to the knit pieces, like some slight pilling throughout as well as some loose threads. This piece was over dyed - you can tell this because the string is a different color, especially the string used to make past mends, which are also noted in the photos. Most of this is taken from the underside so most of these mends really are not too visible from the exterior of the pieces. The over dye caused the mohair edge of the collar to turn grey. Some wear to buttons. Belt loop, but no belt. I do feel like this is still a beautiful piece and is still wearable.
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment.
