1950s Vintage Elinor Porter Red Satin Cocktail Dress with Detachable Shawl - XS
Oh so lovely! This bright red satin dress would make an incredible costume or study. The dress features lovely thin straps that attache to the dress with rhinestone buttons. These same buttons are what fasten the unique shawl to the dress. The dress zips at the side and the shawl has a hook and eye closure at the front where the bow is. Label is for Elinor Porter. No size tag. Would likely best fit a modern Extra small, possibly a XXS. See Measurements below. Dress form is modern size 0 for reference and it could not zip up at the chest on dress form. Zipper works fine though.

Fair Vintage Condition - This lovely dress presents beautifully and it would be an incredible costume or study. BUT there are markings throughout the red satin that would not come out with professional cleaning. She photographs well from afar, but up close you can see the marks - many of them look almost like color-fade or water marks, but there are also a few spots too. Some discoloration too to the underarms. These were all difficult to show on camera, because on the red they just look like shadows. There is also some general overall wear and some loose threads. The lining is worn too and in the skirt lining has been cut shorter near the hem. The tag is slightly detached in the shawl. A few of the rhinestones are cloudy. Shawls looks like its had additional snaps closures installed. The dress did come with the original tags BUT I don’t think its dead stock given all the issues present. I will still send the tag along with the dress though. Fabric likes to wrinkle, hand upon receiving to minimize.
