1950s Vintage Jane Hodges Classic Black Velvet Sheath Cocktail Party Dress - Sm
A classic and lovely example of a vintage black velvet dress. This surely will become a staple in your wardrobe, easily styled and worn for just about anything. The piece features the sweetest button detailing on the front (decorative) with cute cap-like sleeves. I am particularly in love with the velvet paneling that buttons in back as it adds just the right amount of flare and pizzaz to the whole look! The dress zips up the back with a metal zipper and has additional buttons in back for the velvet panel. Label for Jane Hodges. It would likely best fit a modern Small, but please see measurements! Model is modern size 4/6 for reference.

Bust: 34 inches from flat measurements; 36 inches fulled taught and trying to account for the darting. For reference model is 34B and it seemed to fit well overall.
Waist: 26 inches
Hips: 37 inches
Length: 41.5 inches (measured from back, straight down) - the panel is a tad bit longer than then dress hem
Sleeve Length: about 3 inches - there is no seam to measure from
Good vintage condition - Some overall wear to the dress. There is some crushing and wear to the velvet in places but overall it presents beautifully. A few loose threads in areas that do not seem to impact wear. The base of the zipper shows some wear too but it doesn’t seem to impact wearability - this is also conveniently covered but the velvet panel in back! Some wear to the inner seam allotments as well - to be expected.
