1960s Vintage Penguin Black & White Houndstooth Coat with Red Trim - XL; 1X to 2X
This 60s coat or jacket is so perfect for any winter look! The classic black & white Houndstooth pattern play off so well against the touches of red from the lining. This would be great to style in so many ways! It is super cozy, made of what feels like wool to me, inside and out. The jacket even has sizable pockets. Buttons in the front, with matching decorative buttons on sleeves and matching metal color on the pockets. Zips at the sides with Taylon zippers. Tag is for Penguin Fashions - their 60s label. It would likely best fit modern Extra Large or 1X, possibly even a 2X, but as always please refer to measurements. I do think this look was originally intended to be a bit oversized, based upon similar styles found in old magazines. Remember too, you want coats to be a bit loose to accommodate the clothing underneath. The fabric is a bit thick though so keep that in mind. Model is modern size 4/6 for reference.

Bottom Hem: 50 inches (sits lower than hips on model)
Sleeve Length: 23 inches
Length: 35 inches (back of collar, straight down)
Good vintage condition - Some overall wear and minor pilling to the piece. There are a few areas of discoloration, wear, and pilling to the red interior of the coat. The discoloration was most notable around the button holes. Some additional wear and what look to be past mends to the button holes, including one done in brown thread for whatever reason (though its not too obvious to my eye). Right at the top near the collar, one small faint area of color bleed was found (see last picture). I tried to capture it on camera to the best of my abilities, but it was difficult.
