This is a stunning example of a mid-century dress that was highly likely used as a dance or skating costume. This bright blue color is a classic for a mid-century summer look and I can easily imagine it being used in a musical dance number. The unique feature of this dress though is all the scalloped edges present on the neckline, the sleeves and the hem - just beautiful! Zips up the back with a Talon zipper. Fabric feels like a cotton-poly blend, but there are no content tags to confirm. There are no tags to indicate maker, was likely a custom made piece for costume. Would likely best fit a modern Extra Small. Model is modern size 4/6 for reference and she could not zip it up in the back at all. Dress form is a modern Extra Small.

Measurements :
Bust: 33 inches, but 34 pulled taught (I do think this piece requires a bullet bra given the darting- like is shown on model, not dress form)
Waist: 23 inches
Hips: open given size (was likely intended to be worn with dance shorts underneath)
Length: about 32 inches from back of collar, down depending on where from the scallop you measure
Sleeve Length: about 9.5 inches depending on where form the scallop you measure
Good vintage condition - Some overall wear to item including some pilling to the fabric in places, but the worst of this seems to be inside the garment. Some wear to the inner seam allotments too as expected. Some marks/spots and faint areas of discoloration that did not come out with cleaning. It still seems very wearable, but there is some wear and pulls to the seams in the bodice- priced for this. Some slight bunching to the fabric near the zipper base. Not a flaw, but just how it was made - you can see the stitching for the scalloping at the collar, sleeves, and hem.
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment. If you need more information about my measurements and vintage sizing please refer to my FAQs section under my Shop Policies page and ask me, I am here to help!!
