This is an absolutely stunning and unique dress and coat set. I think this set would be great for an event or possibly even a bride for an alternative approach to a wedding dress! The light weight and sleeveless dress is great for those hot days, but the coat is perfect to layer on during those chillier evenings. The base of both pieces is a sort of off white or cream - to my eye the dress is ever so slightly darker in color (though of course it’s a different silk fabric than the coat so that’s not unexpected). You can see that its not as stark white when its up against the white wall in the dress form photos. The pattern to the pieces is floral, but it’s done in an almost tie die of colors with pinks, purples, and blues for the flowers and greens for the leaves. The outer shell fabric of the jacket feels like silk and is lined and the silk band on the dress matches the fabric of the coat. The dress itself feels like a silk chiffon and has a couple layers underneath the chiffon so it’s not see through. The dress zips up the back most of the way, but also features some hook closures as well as a button at the nape of the neck. The coat buttons up the front with lovely green rhinestone buttons! Coat does feature pockets, I will say though that they seemed to be really far down - model had to sort of reach for them. But they work just fine otherwise. Tag for the coat is “Harzfelds” while the dress is tagged for “Malcom Starr” and also features a union tag. Overall the set would best fit a modern Extra Small, possibly a Small, but please read measurements! For reference, model is modern size 4/6 and the dress fit technically but felt tight across the ribs. The dress form for the dress is a size Extra Small and I feel like it fits better on that than on the model. Dress form for coat is a Medium, for reference. Coat is meant to fit loosely.

Measurements of Dress:
Bust: 33 inches, 34 pulled taught (model is 34b for reference and ribs felt tight)
Waist: 25 inches (this seemed to hit a tad higher on model than the natural waist)
Hips: about 36 inches for the undermost layer of the dress (it does seem to be cut on the bias so there should be a bit of wiggle room/give here)
Length: about 36 inches (from shoulder, down)
Measurements of Coat: again coat is meant to fit loosely!
Bust: 44 inches
Waist: 50 inches
Hips: 60 inches
Length: 40 inches (from back of collar, down)
Sleeve Length:about 14 inches (no shoulder seam to measure from)
Good Vintage Condition - There is some overall wear to both pieces. There are marks/spots/discolorations found on both items that did not come out with dry cleaning. The most obvious to my eye though is at the underarms of the dress and the under layers of the dress (the later are not obvious when the dress is worn). While I think it’s intentional given that different fabric was used, it does seem that the dress is a tad bit darker cream color overall than the coat. There is also some color bleed/run to both pieces, the most noticeable to me though was the dress chiffon where the tie dye - especially the pink - seems to be in places it wasn’t likely intended to be. Though I will say, given the style of the print being tie-dye I don’t think this is a detraction or “bad” per se. There are also some pulls, snags, and a few loose threads to the silk on both pieces. Some wear to the inner seam allotments on the dress as well. There is also one rip to the middle layer of the dress (underneath the chiffon), so again should not be obvious when worn. Not a flaw- just how it was made - but a lot of hand stitching is noted to the dress, at the hem, the shoulders, the arm holes, etc. The rhinestones on the coat buttons are not all the same green color and some protrude weirdly, but they do all seem secure at present.
All measurements are approximate as they are taken flat - for garments specifically this means where applicable (bust, waist, hips) has been doubled unless stated otherwise. If you are uncertain about fit and/or need more measurements please ask! If it is provided in the listing, models and/or dress form sizes are used as a point of reference only. Please remember that all bodies are different so always defer to the measurements I provide and check them against your own, preferably on a similar style garment.
